Your Choice of Coffin

Research shows that the coffin is the centrepiece of the funeral service, but the range of the conservative products makes choosing a coffin a difficult task. Over the past decades little changed in the overall look of coffin products.

The most significant change to coffins was the substrate / material, which took place in the mid 1990s. Up until then coffins were being made from our precious timbers. Then a need for mass production and introduction of Medium Density Fibreboard and Particleboard saw a major change in the properties of coffins. Within a short period of time 89% of coffins are now made from MDF and Particleboard.

From Wine Corks To Twist Tops, From Wind Up watches to Digital, From fountain pens to biros…and so coffins have changed. And now the next new wave of coffin properties are taking place…..CARDBOARD.

Cardboard’s entry into the funeral industry has been timely.

According to most recent Australian funeral industry research consumers are seeking greater involvement in funerals - wanting the opportunity to express themselves and be involved in the planning and service. They are seeking products and services to create a truly personalised service.

Coupled with the additional trend - people are clearly responding to environmental issues in all industries, including the funeral industry.

So why is cardboard the answer?
Cardboard is the new strength material which offers manufacturers an alternative to MDF and particle board.
