There are number of options available to pre-organising a funeral.
Register with "My Wishes". We have developed an informative, user friendly form to assist people in planning a funeral. It provides you with the opportunity to record your decisions / wishes for your funeral service or nominate if you would prefer a family member or other person to make particular decisions.
There are little hints throughout "My Wishes" to provide ideas and inspire you to plan an event that can create your desired funeral event.
You have the choice to print out and place with your personal papers or ask us to save your file and revisit any time you wish to make amendments or add new ideas.
Pre-arranged funeral (similar to "My Wishes" register)
A pre-arranged funeral is simply writing down your preferred funeral arrangements. Pre-arrangements do not involve money, but still records your personal funeral arrangements. When the time is needed your noted funeral arrangement wishes are carried out. Once you’ve made your prearrangements, keep a copy of your plan and any pertinent paperwork in a safe place. It is advisable to inform a close friend or relative what arrangements you have made and where the information may be found. Guides / Pre Arrange forms are available from your funeral director or from the many of the funeral home web sites.
Pre-paid funeral contract
Pre-paid arrangements are in a locked contract. This means that once you have selected what you would like to have take place and it is written in a contract you can not change your preferences to decrease the value of the total amount of the funeral. If unsure of how much you would like to spend, a funeral bond is available this is considered a more flexible option.
Pre-paid funeral bond.
A funeral bond has the same principles as the pre-paid arrangement where your personal funeral arrangements are recorded. A sum of money (maximum of $10,000) is invested in the funeral fund to help pay for your funeral. Funeral bonds offer a high degree of flexibility, especially if you wish to change your funeral requirements e.g. from a burial to cremation or location of your funeral.
At the time when the services are required the funeral directors would recalculate the cost of the funeral. And give you an estimate as to how much the funeral will cost before you take out the bond.
